Quotes from James Allen’s ‘As the Man Thinketh’

In funny news, WORD desperately wanted to replace ‘Thinketh’ to ‘Trinket’ and some such words.

All jokes apart, I finally decided to read this book that has been hiding in my Kindle for a long (too long I guess) time.

I’m on a mission to clean out my Kindle as if it’s even a possible aim for book-hoarders.

In few words, the central message of the book is: you’re what you think. Think happy thoughts and be happy. Or think sad thoughts and go in that direction and destroy your life.

It’s a good short book and it’s in the public domain, meaning it’s free. You can download it from Kindle if you like.

While I was reading ‘As the Man Thinketh’, it reminded me a lot about ‘Think & Grow Rich’.

Anyways, below are some quotes from ‘As the Man Thinketh’…

“Circumstance does not make the man; it reveals him to himself.” ~~ James Allen (Book: As the Man Thinketh)

“Good thoughts bear good fruit, bad thoughts bad fruit.” ~~ James Allen (Book: As the Man Thinketh)

“Dream lofty dreams, and as you dream, so shall you become.” ~~ James Allen (Book: As the Man Thinketh)

“All that a man achieves and all that he fails to achieve is the direct result of his own thoughts.” ~~ James Allen (Book: As the Man Thinketh)

“To live continually in thoughts of ill will, cynicism, suspicion, and envy, is to be confined in a self made prison-hole.” ~~ James Allen (Book: As the Man Thinketh)

“Until thought is linked with purpose there is no intelligent accomplishment.” ~~ James Allen (Book: As the Man Thinketh)

“The body is the servant of the mind. It obeys the operations of the mind, whether they be deliberately chosen or automatically expressed.” ~~ James Allen (Book: As the Man Thinketh)

“Men are anxious to improve their circumstances, but are unwilling to improve themselves; they therefore remain bound.” ~~ James Allen (Book: As the Man Thinketh)

“Man is always the master, even in his weaker and most abandoned state; but in his weakness and degradation he is the foolish master who misgoverns his ‘household’. ~~ James Allen (Book: As the Man Thinketh)

“Just as gardener cultivates his plot, keeping it free from weeds, and growing the flowers and fruits which he requires, so may a man tend the garden of his mind, weeding out all the wrong, useless and impure thoughts and cultivating toward perfection the flowers and fruits of right, useful and pure thoughts.” ~~ James Allen (Book: As the Man Thinketh)

“Thought and character are one, and as character can only manifest and discover itself through environment and circumstance, the outer conditions of a person’s life will always be found to be harmoniously related to his inner state.” ~~ James Allen (Book: As the Man Thinketh)

“Good thoughts and actions can never produce bad results; bad thoughts and actions can never produce good results.” ~~ James Allen (Book: As the Man Thinketh)

“Suffering is always the effect of wrong thought in some direction. It is an indication that the individual is out of harmony with himself, with the Law of his being.” ~~ James Allen (Book: As the Man Thinketh)

“Men do not attract that which they want, but that which they are. Their whims, fancies and ambitions are thwarted at every steps, but their inmost thoughts and desires are fed with their own food, be it foul or clean.”
